E-learning: VIP.fund is pleased to host Sawsan Darwaza in our bi-monthly webinar series this coming Friday, November 13. Sawsan is the curator of Karama Film Festival on Human Rights, Amman, Jordan. She will address the question of Art and Human Rights as Tools for Social Change.

Razan Jazayerli Kabbani joins our advisory council as our finance adviser. Welcome Razan, we are fortunate to have you!

#Nawar Alhamwi #NewBeginnings. Congratulations! Nawar will be taking the first step toward the fulfillment of his dream. He was admitted into an exclusive program at the Cologne University of Music in Germany, one of Europe’s most prestigious music academies. “By learning the music of others, we are not only reinforcing our own identity. We learn to appreciate it when we see against a backdrop of other cultures. The purpose is integration and assimilation, creating this beautiful hybrid that allows us to promote the culture we are proud of, and further the values of cultural diversity and tolerance,” Nawar says.

#Operation Routers4Refugees: edSeed and Project Turquoise will collaborate to help edSeed scholars crowdfund for routers in refugee camps. Remote learning will again be the mode at Zarqa University for the fall of 2020.

  • Peer-to-Peer Mentorship –  Thanks to Hiba Salem, Manar Marouf and Anas Bakro for moderating and presenting on the Mentors’ Webinar. 13 mentors from the #US, #UK, #Germany, #Syria, and #Egypt participated. Presentations covered mentorship program basics, SMART goal-setting, and an edSeed Mentor platform orientation.
  • Community member updates –   Mariam AbuHashish, a talented musician and aspiring dentist from #Gaza launched her crowdfunding campaign and received full tuition funding in less than 24 hours.
  • edSeed Activities – 20 participants joined our monthly orientation. Orientations are designed to support scholars creating #crowdfunding campaigns to fund their higher and continued education needs.
  • VIP.fund Recognition – We received a Bronze Seal for #transparency on #CharityNavigator
  • Webinar Series – Joumana Al-Jabri will be hosting a sequel to the successful In Harmony with the Moment Webinar on Saturday October 10 and 17.
  • VIP.fund Advisory Council –  to welcome Huda Imam to the VIP.fund advisory council. Huda is a #Palestinian, living in #Jerusalem.

.  #VIP.fund – We are growing through partnerships. VIP.fund volunteers met with representatives from MAPS (MULTI-AID PROGRAMs) in Lebanon to follow up on implementation of the agreement between the two organizations. Students from MAPS are training with edSeed and attending webinars. Further cooperation avenues were explored.

. #Partnerships – Revival: Syrian Youth Assembly #edSeed board members and volunteers met with Aghyad Balkhi, a representative of the Syrian Youth Assembly, in Jordan along with other Syrian students not affiliated with any organization to introduce their respective institutions. Aghyad presented Syrian Youth Assembly’s platform and its different resources including Coursera, University of the People, Erasmus, and Allison platforms. VIP.fund representatives presented the organization’s different platforms and programs and encouraged Syrian students to spread the word and use the Webinar Series, VIP.Fund Tech Talks (TM), and other relevant programs. Twenty-five edSeed students participated in Thursday’s #Kiron Orientation.

.  #FarisEidFund – Congratulations to Abdelkarim El Ubeyd, Ahmad Almasri, and Anas Albarakat, the three recipients of the Faris Eid Fund. Thank you for overcoming and prevailing. Your interviews were heartwarming and impressive.

.  #edSeed Activities – Friends in Jordan will help deliver computers to our ZU (Zarqa University) students in Zaatari Camp.

.  #Communications – Suha Nabhan joined us a few weeks ago as a VIP.fund fellow. She will lead with improving our communication including the website, email, and social media. We are thrilled to have her join our community.

.  #Ambassador Program – This week we had a kickoff meeting for the VIP.fund Ambassador program. Looking to get involved and support #Syrian #Palestinian #Lebanese #Yemen #Iraq #youth? Join us and volunteer.

.  #TechTalks – Tey Elrjula led a webinar on #Bitcoin. Of the 24 attendees, 4 knew of #Bitcoin, 1 of #Blockchain. After the webinar, all attendees are in the know. #education4all #distruptiveTech
